Shijo Varghese is an academic and researcher with a diverse educational background spanning literature, violence studies, and art. He completed his undergraduate studies in English Literature from Christ University, Bangalore, and went on to pursue his postgraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Hyderabad. Furthering his academic pursuits, he earned an M.Phil degree in Violence Studies from Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University, Kalady, where he delved into the intricate dynamics and manifestations of violence in society. Currently, he is engaged in doctoral research, focusing on the interdisciplinary field of Violence Studies and Cartoon Narratives. His research aims to explore and understand the complex intersections of violence, society, and visual storytelling through cartoons.
Beyond his academic endeavors, he possesses an artistic bend of mind, which is reflected in his research interests and approach. He is deeply interested in the visual arts, particularly cartooning and graphic narratives, as a powerful medium for social commentary and expression.
